Get Your Glow Back with Dr Lizzie Tuckey

Head to Dr Lizzie’s website and the first thing you’ll see, isn’t a picture of an airbrushed women with plumped up lips and impossibly smooth skin but three simple words. Enhancing Natural Beauty.

Turn up at her clinic, clutching an image of a Facetuned influencer and you’ll be (very) politely shown the door.

You see Dr Lizzie Tuckey, isn’t in the business of changing people, especially very young people. Instead Dr Lizzie’s aesthetics is all about subtly enhancing what you already have. Helping you to appear as the best version of yourself, all whilst ensuring nobody can guess what you’ve had done.

An NHS trained doctor with a post graduate certificate in Aesthetic Medicine and Dermatology, it is Dr Lizzie’s training with Botox founder and world-renowned plastic surgeon Dev Basra,  alongside the eminent Dr Michael Prager, that has helped hone her skills and expertises in skin rejuvenation.  However it’s her firm belief that less is more, that has meant Dr Lizzie Tuckey, is rapidly becoming the go to practitioner for natural looking skin rejuvenation and beautifully subtle enhancement.

A mother of one, Dr Lizzie’s authentic understanding of motherhood alongside the anatomical knowledge of pregnancy and postpartum women, means she takes a more gradual and holistic approach to treating new mothers. While some practitioners can be rather gung-ho, offering to fill everything and anything as soon as you stop breastfeeding, she believes that women should avoid fillers for two years after having a baby.

The reason for this? It can take two years for a women to fully return to her pre-baby shape and this includes her face, as well as her body. If you start adding filler before all the weight has been lost, as the kilos fall off, it risks looking odd and misplaced.

Instead Dr Lizzie offers a three step, two session, post baby program, involving laser for post-pregnancy redness and pigmentation, Profhilo to plump the skin and refresh collagen, and Baby Botox to reduce the look of tiredness. So 18 months after the birth of my third born, yet still barring the scars of a tired new mum, I book in for some post baby rejuvenation.

Based out of Dr Prager’s infamous clinic in Knightsbridge, hidden behind what looks like a blacked out shop window, I am greeted by Dr Lizzie and immediately whisked up stairs for some pretreatment skin analysis.

We begin with some IPL laser, focusing on areas of redness around my nose, cheeks and chin. A treatment that can often be over looked, Dr Lizzie explains that tackling areas of pigmentation and/or redness is often more effective at creating a youthful and radiant appearance than simply plumping your face with filler.

Up next, Profhilo. Made of hyaluronic acid, Profiloh is often referred to as the injectable moisturise, thanks to its ability to plump and hydrate the skin. Another benefit not as loudly touted, is its ability to boost collagen levels, tightening and lifting the skin. For this, Dr Lizzie goes for a more all over approach injecting around my jawline, cheekbones, mouth to nose lines and even the forehead. The effect is instantaneous, with results continuing to improve over the next few weeks.

We finish our session with some Baby Botox. Not a fan of the frozen look, Dr Lizzie has more of a subtle approach to Botox, opting to go lightly for the first session and topping up where needed on the second. Unlike Profhilo the results aren’t instantaneous and it will take a good two weeks until we can see the full effects and where, if any, a top-up is needed.

A month later and I return for my second and final session. On the surface the procedure is exactly the same as the first, however Dr Lizzie is actually accessing what areas need further treatment or top-ups in order to balance the face, for the most effective yet natural looking results.

A further two weeks down the line, I am looking refreshed and revitalised (even if I don’t feel it), and while many have commented on my glowing complexion not one person has questioned what I’ve had done. Which is exactly what Dr Lizzie was aiming for.

Knowing how is easy it can be to get carried away with treatments, it is refreshing to have someone like Dr Lizzie who refuses to bow down to the pressure of demand and stick to their principles. Something which is of particular value for new mothers, who, feeling as you do when your whole world has been turned up side down, do not need someone taking advantage their insecurities.

With her focus on natural beauty, high standing principles and emotional wellbeing, Dr Lizzie Tuckey won’t just get your glow back, she’ll leave feeling renewed, radiant and re-energised.
