There is no doubt about it, pregnancy truly is a wonderful thing. From spotting that initial blue line to those first little kicks, it brings many a magical experience.

But as any mum will tell you, pregnancy isn’t all bunny rabbits and rainbows. On top of having to get used to a new and constantly growing body (that becomes increasingly uncomfortable the larger we get), we also have to ditch the sushi, restrict our coffee and forgo all our favourite beauty treatments (yes sorry ladies, it’s time to say Sayonara to Botox, Fillers and Lasers, even Mesotherapy is off the cards for now).

Of course these scarifies are well worth it but as someone who loves her beauty treatments, I will admit that there was a little part of me that freaked out at the thought of no Botox for the next year and a half! (Botox is still a no go while breastfeeding)

Which got me thinking, if I can’t go for my usual mix of treatments it’s time to research the best alternatives out there. After all, I am a beauty editor with access to a large list of experts; surely there is something they can do so this baby doesn’t reverse all their years’ hard work!

A few ‘help me’ emails later and I am booked in to test out a variety of treatments suitable for woman in pregnancy.  Unsurprisingly of course, because these guys know their stuff, my fears were proven false and I finally feel like I can enjoy my pregnancy feeling safe in the knowledge that I wouldn’t have aged 9 years in the same amount of months.

Whether you’re looking to keep your skin in tip top shape this pregnancy or simply in need of some well deserved pampering, here we have it. Our trailed and tested top 6 pregnancy friendly beauty treatments to keep your skin glowing the whole 9 months.

BYONIK TREATMENT

He may be the go to ‘Lip Man’ but don’t be fooled into thinking that’s his only expertise. A father himself, Dr Esho understands that us mums-to-be still want to look and feel our very best during this important time. To keep skin tip top condition during pregnancy, he recommends the Byonik Treatment.

The first ever skin rejuvenation system to be guided by your pulse and the newest treatment to the ESHO clinic, it combines hyaluronic acid with a pulse-triggered (pregnancy safe) laser to rejuvenate cells. An anti-inflammatory, reparative treatment, the Byonik laser is not only 100% pain free (so much so that I might have actually fallen asleep during my treatment and maybe even snored (insert embarrassed emoji here)), it also works to stimulates collagen and elastin production, enhancing the skin’s microcirculation, to leave you looking refreshed and radiant.

The ancient practice of Dermaplanning has become one of 2019’s must have treatments and for good reason.  Providing smooth ‘airbrushed’ skin, Dermaplaning uses a sterile super sharp, medical blade held at a 45 degree angle in order to precisely remove the hair and dead skin cells, to leave your skin looking fresh and renewed while allowing your usual skincare to penetrate deeper and have a better effect. With no downtime and totally pain free, this safe treatment really is suitable for all whether pregnant or breastfeeding.

To keep your skin glowing the entire 9 months, Regents Park Aesthetics recommend waiting your average skin cell cycle of 6 weeks  before repeating the treatment.  Want to mix things up? At Regents Park Aesthetics, you can opt for combining Dermaplaning with LED light and collagen mask, or team Microneedling up with Dermaplaning for the ultimate in skin rejuvenation!
